Vicasol
Cooperative has re-opened the door of this market, closed because of the Tuta
absoluta. The cooperative has obtained a certificate to permit to export to
USA after demonstrating that it farms are free from Tuta absoluta.

Since the pest Tuta absoluta arose Almeria found an insurmountable tomato for
export to the U.S. problem. Stringent border rules that characterize American
imports had thus become a barrier to Almeria production since 2007, as well as
other areas affected by the pest.
Yet Vicasol has been developing since hard work, involving his mainly technical
team, which is also to highlight the commitment of farmers. The fruit has
been obtaining timely to post tomatoes at a market like the U.S., which was
lost to Almeria horticulture regarding this product certifications. Through
certification by Andalusian Agrocolor and timely registration data base CEXBEG
the way was open.
The first shipments from Vicasol, New York and departed without incident,
noting, though, strict measures on packaging and palletizing. In this
sense also highlights the need to wrap all the boxes each pallet includes a
material that ensures water tightness.
From another point of view, this certification
is recognition of work Vicasol technical team consisting of 17 professionals,
which maintains one of the lowest number of hectares for all technical
horticulture ratios
