The new International Workshop on Tuta absoluta will be held
in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia during 26-28th November 2013. The aim is to
explore the potential expansion of the pest in Eastern African countries as
well as drawing from the experience of the Middle Eastern and North African
countries in managing The Tomato miner Tuta absoluta.
ÃÆÃâÃâÃÂ
The Workshop is organised jointly by the Ethiopian Institute
of Agricultural Research and the IPM Innovation Lab at Virginia Tech, USA. It
aims increasing the awareness of the African participants of the new pest which
is threatening to cause critical damage to the key food sources in the area. It
also aims to provide a platform for the scientists from the neighbouring
regions to share and update the experience of managing Tuta absoluta over the
past two years.
ÃÆÃâ
Tuta absoluta has been reported in both Sudan (2011) and
Ethiopia (2012) on Tomato, Potato and Aubergine.
